Hunter Gross is an American percussionist from Owasso, Oklahoma. He began his percussion education at the Owasso Highschool; there he competed with the “Pride of Owasso”, earning multiple BOA Finalist positions, as well as participating in multiple chamber and large ensembles. After graduating high-school in 2016, Hunter competed with the Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps, pushing the corps into World Class classification, which they were rewarded with after the 2016 season. Hunter currently is finishing his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance and Graduate Certificate in Arts
Management and Entrepreneurship, is currently applying to multiple graduate schools in pursuit of a Master of Music in Performance. From the prestigious OU Percussion Orchestra to small chamber ensembles, Hunter has performed and competed with a number of groups and ensembles around the OU School of Music. He most recently was selected as a member of the 2019 PASIC Collegiate All-Star Chamber Ensemble, there he performed with some of the best collegiate percussionists in a showcase concert. In January of 2019, Hunter was selected on a Fellowship to attend the Toolbox International Creative Academy Festival. There he played with percussionists from all over Asia and learned from top percussionists in the field such as David Herbert, Principal Percussionist of the Chicago Symphony. He was also the 2017 winner of the Ladies Music Club Nichols Percussion Competition. Hunter shares a passion for commissioning with many different percussionists in the field, and is primarily focusing on commissioning new music for percussion and electronics.
